A "mentor" couple offered to bring us to our first club night. is that a normal thing or weird
so we've been chatting to this couple online for about 2 months. theyre experienced, super chill in messages, no pressure to do anything physical, theyve answered like a hundred of my dumb questions with patience. shes 48 hes 51, weve been calling them "the grown ups" between us bc they seem so much further along than we are. last week she suggested they could come with us to our first club night. like meet us at the door, walk us in, show us the layout, introduce us to a couple of the regulars they know, and then back off and let us do our thing. she said something like "first nights are way less scary with people you already know in the room". now my first reaction was honestly relief, like "oh thank god yes please". but then dh got a bit twitchy. he was like "is this a sex thing? are they essentially trying to be the couple we play with first? is this a trojan horse?". and i can see why he's reading it that way but also from my chats with her ive genuinely felt nothing like that, just kindness. (f33 him 36, never been to a club, no LS experience at all) so. is this a known thing? do experienced couples genuinely "show new couples the ropes" without an agenda? or is dh right to be a bit wary. how do you tell the difference between a friendly hand and a slow-walk recruitment to a swap. and if its legit, how do you keep boundaries clean so the night doesnt slide into something it wasnt meant to be.
