a swap during a roadtrip... is anyone actually doing this or is it a movie plot

wifes dream scenario - we're on a long roadtrip across the country, we stop somewhere different every night, in one of those towns we end up meeting a couple at a bar or restaurant and theres an instant connection and we end up swapping in some random b&b. very on the road romantic. but in reality, planning a roadtrip with random hookups feels like a contradiction. either you plan and its not spontaneous, or you dont plan and the odds of it happening are tiny. anyone actually pulled off the roadtrip swap, and was it spontaneous or quietly arranged in advance
