bristol scene... whats the deal with the older established place vs the newer venue that opened recently

so we're bristol based and weve been going to the long running club for years and we kinda love it but we tried the newer place a couple times and the crowd was way younger and a bit more "club night" energy than swinging energy if that makes sense?? is it just us getting old or is there genuinely a split now between the old school venue with the proper LS regulars and the new place which feels more like couples curious for the first time. not knocking either just want to know where to send friends in their 40s who are starting out...
