british pakistani couple in toronto... the diaspora double-take

we moved from ldn to toronto two yrs ago, both british pakistani. been in the scene back home for ages, decided to try here too. and the thing we werent ready for was the diaspora double-take. like... we ll be at a meet and the moment another south asian shows up we both clock each other w this look of "oh god please dont be from my cousins mosque". the brown community here is small and very interconnected. has anyone else navigated diaspora overlap risk in a smaller city. how do u protect ur privacy when u know ur communities probably overlap...
