commuter belt life and LS, the practical compromise

we live in guildford, work mostly in london, scene access is fine but its always a calculation... drive in for london clubs and book a hotel, or stick to surrey events which are quieter and smaller. we've been doing this five years now and its kind of the perfect compromise but also kind of nothing fully. anyone else in commuter belt life and how do you balance the london scene against the local one without either becoming exhausting
