financial mismatch with another couple made the meet awkward

met a couple last weekend in melbourne. lovely on paper great chemistry. we're comfortable but theyre wealthy in a different way. they suggested a hotel we couldnt really afford. we said yes because we didnt want to be the couple who said no. ended up spending 600 dollars on a room and a dinner that wasnt about us. the actual meet was fine but i spent the whole night thinking about the bill. how do other couples handle financial mismatches without it becoming a class thing
