french wife in the london LS scene and the accent thing is getting weird right so. wife is from lyon, ive got a very boring south london accent, we've been in london nearly a decade now and in the LS scene about two years. she speaks english near perfect but yknow she still has the accent and ppl at clubs and meets... cannot let it go. like at first it was charming. couple of years ago at our first proper meet a bloke said "say something in french" and she laughed and we all moved on. fine. but now its every single bloody time. she opens her mouth at a munch and someone is doing the "ooh la la" thing or asking her to count to ten in french during play like its a party trick. one guy last month literally said "i've always wanted to do it with a french girl" to her face while i was stood right there holding her drink. shes too polite to say anything in the moment but in the uber home she was properly fuming. and im in this awkward spot where i dont want to be the husband who fights her battles but also if i hear one more "ohhh francaise" at a play party im gonna lose it. is this just a thing that comes with being a couple with an accent in the scene or are we picking the wrong rooms ... we're late 30s for context, not new to any of this, but new to it being this... reductive? idk.
