gift exchange at a couples weekend in the lakes... do people do this or are we weird?

so we just hosted a couples weekend in the lake district between christmas and NYE, four couples, lovely cottage near windermere. on the saturday night someone joked about a secret santa and we all ended up actually doing one the next morning, very tame, novelty stuff, a couple of cheeky things, lots of laughs. it was honestly one of the nicest moments of the whole trip and made it feel like a proper friendship not just a play scene. is this a thing other couples do? we're kind of new to the deeper friendship side of the lifestyle, mostly we just did clubs before. how do you balance the play side with the actual friendship side without it getting weird? loved the weekend btw, just curious about the etiquette of it all
