gonorrhoea from oral... i genuinely didn't know this was a thing

feeling so naive right now. i'm 36, we've been LS for 5 years and i always thought oral was the "safe" thing you did unprotected when full sex stayed protected. went for a routine swab in bristol last week because dh had a meet without me and we always test after solo plays. throat swab came back positive for gonorrhoea. throat. i haven't had unprotected pen with anyone in months, this is purely from going down. doctor was lovely about it, single shot of antibiotics in the bum cheek and i'm sorted, but i feel like such an idiot for not knowing oral carries this risk. has the LS community generally caught up on this... do people use barriers for oral now or are we all just rolling the dice. tbh i don't know if i'd want to either way
