HPV in the lifestyle — am i too old for the vaccine, real talk

F42. just had my annual gyno appt and she mentioned HPV vaccine "if i hadnt had it". im old enough that i missed the wave when it became standard for teens. didn't even think abt it for yrs. now im in the LS 2 yrs deep and i suddenly feel exposed lol. she said the vaccine is approved up to 45 but the data is "less clear" past 26. dh is 44 and never had it either. weve been playing condom-only with ppl but as mentioned everywhere condoms dont fully cover the HPV areas. who here got the shot as an adult, esp post-35? did insurance even cover it for u? was it worth the 3-shot ordeal? and also the awkward q: if i get it now does it help if ive prob already been exposed to some strains over 20+ yrs of sex life. asking a serious q under an anon profile cuz my gyno appt felt rushed
