"i'd never do that again" feeling after soft swap, does it mean i quit?

we did our first ever soft swap on saturday with a couple from edinburgh. in the moment it was fine, even good. but driving home i had this overwhelming "yeah never again" feeling and i couldn't shake it for 2 days. now it's wednesday and i actually feel... ok? curious even? my partner's being lovely about it, no pressure, says it's entirely my call whether we ever do this again. how do i know if that immediate "never again" was the truth or just shock? has anyone had this and ended up going back to it later, or did "never again" mean never again for you?
