irish couple two years into toronto, finally trying the LS here and feeling like proper outsiders
so we left cork in 2024, both for work, husband is in tech im in healthcare. early 30s, no kids. we'd dabbled in the scene back home, just one club in dublin really and a few house parties, nothing wild. we waited til we settled here before trying anything and we've now been to two club nights in toronto and a meet and greet last week and im... not sure? cause the irish thing keeps coming up. like obviously the accent gives us away the moment we order a drink. and people are LOVELY about it. very welcoming. but theres this thing where every conversation goes the same way, "ohhh ireland, my grandma was from kerry, do you know X town" and then the actual swinger conversation never quite starts. by the time we'd done the irish heritage chat with three couples in a row at the last meet, we hadnt actually talked to anyone about anything LS related. is this just a settling in thing or are we doing something wrong? in cork we knew everyone in like a month. here it feels like we're a curiosity first and a couple second. and i dont want to be ungrateful cause people are being friendly but i miss the bit where people just... want to play with us. or at least flirt with us. instead of asking if we know their cousin in galway.
