meeting couples who travel from another city... extra red flags or not really

we keep getting messages from couples whore willing to drive 3+ hrs to meet us. on one hand its flattering, on the other hand it feels weird... like surely if theyre serious in the LS theyve got local options closer to home? are we missing something obvious here? my wife thinks its fine cos out of town couples have more reason to not flake (theyve invested in the trip) but im suspicious that anyone whos that desperate for a meet must have burned bridges in their own city for some reason. anyone got experience with regular long distance meets and care to share if its been worth it or not
