Millennials and Gen X share a club and the vibes are completely different, anyone else noticing this
random observation post bc this has been rattling around in my head for months. me 37, dh 39, in the LS 4 yrs, we go to two regular clubs here. one of them skews late 30s to early 50s ie mostly elder millennials and gen x, the other one is broader, full age range from late 20s up. what im noticing is that the millennial-heavy nights and the gen x-heavy nights feel almost like different lifestyles? like at the older crowd nights theres more pre-arranged stuff, ppl came as part of a foursome they already chatted to online, the conversation in the bar is lower stakes bc most ppl already know who theyre playing with. theres also a lot more "we've been doing this for 15 yrs" energy, which is honestly lovely, very settled, very respectful, but also feels like walking into a friends house that already has its own jokes. the millennial nights are messier in a way i kind of like. more spontaneous, more "we just met at the bar and clicked", less pre-screened. but also more anxiety in the room, more phones, more performative stuff. someones always recording in the smoking area which used to NEVER happen at our older club. im not saying one is better. im actually saying both are kinda great in different ways and im starting to think we should be hitting both regularly instead of picking. but it does make me wonder how clubs handle the generational mix when its all in one room. has anyone been in a properly mixed crowd where it actually flows? what does that look like. oh and not trying to start a generation war btw, my best LS friends are 12 yrs older than me, this is just an observation about VIBES in the rooms.
