one of us in london one in the highlands... weekend LS only, how do other couples manage opposite-end-of-uk distance

partner took a remote-ish job in the highlands last yr, i couldnt leave my work in london. so now hes up there with the dogs and im down here in a flat, we see each other every 2-3 weekends. always thought of ourselves as a LS couple but now LS only happens on the weekends he comes down or i go up and even then we have so much to catch up on it doesnt always happen. anyone else in a domestic LDR where the distance is just enough to kill the spontaneous side of LS. how do u keep the spark
