phone call check-ins during a solo play night... do u tell him whats happening as it happens or just after

okay so my husband is in vancouver for work and i had my first solo meet last weekend. we agreed id call him before and after but he wanted me to ring during too, like between things. i did once and it was honestly the weirdest most arousing thing, im in this guys flat in dublin and stepping into the bathroom to ring my husband in canada and tell him whats going on. felt very LS in a strange way. but i also wonder if it made me less present with the actual play partner. how do other ldr couples do the check-ins... before/after only or live updates
