same room vs separate room within soft — whats ur preference and why

curious how ppl feel about this. we've only ever done same-room soft and honestly the appeal for me is seeing my husband enjoy himself and him seeing me. like the watching IS the thing. but i was talking to a friend (she's 42, been in scene like 7 yrs) and she said her and her partner only do separate room soft, they meet up after and trade stories and it works great for them. is that even still considered soft swap or is it sliding into something else? i feel like once ur not in the same room the line gets blurry fast. whats ur setup and how did u land on it
