single guy events vs general events where do you actually find play

live in cape town, new-ish to the scene. there are mainly two kinds of events near me - "couples and select singles" which i can't get into easily, and the open "any singles welcome" events which are 80% blokes and feel a bit grim honestly. is there a middle option im missing, like vetted-singles meets or something. how do people actually meet couples in real life when the couples-friendly events filter you out and the singles-welcome events have ratios that make no sense for anyone... feels like a chicken and egg thing
