teetotal in a wine-and-cheese lifestyle social, how do you handle it

so were going to our first lifestyle social, a wine-and-cheese vibe night in cambridge hosted by a private group, about 8 couples. ive been teetotal my whole adult life, never been a drinker, no particular reason, just never appealed. my wife enjoys a glass. ive been to plenty of corporate wine events for work and ive got my patter sorted for those ("driving", "early start", whatever). but this is meant to be more relaxed, intimate, get-to-know-you and i dont want to start a potential intimate evening with a tiny lie about why im not drinking. but i also dont want to derail every first conversation by explaining my whole sober identity. how do you sober/teetotal folk handle the opener bit without it becoming THE thing about you...
