the 24hr cooling off rule before talking about a play... worth it or avoidance

my partner read somewhere that you shouldnt talk about a play session for at least 24hrs after to let the adrenaline settle. we tried it last month and i HATED it. like i had stuff to say and i had to sit on it for a day n by the time we talked it felt stale and i couldnt remember why id felt what id felt. but she swears its better cos last time we talked too soon she said something she didnt mean and it hurt me. so... is 24hrs avoidance dressed up as wisdom or is it actually a good rule? how do other couples handle the timing of post-play conversations...
