the experienced partner holding court at events... its her not me

my wife was in the scene for 5 years before we met. i was vanilla. weve been in the ls together for 2 years now and at every event she knows people i don't. people come up to her i stand next to her smiling. she introduces me as my husband. its lovely in a way and absolutely awful in another way. she doesnt do it on purpose but i feel like a +1 at her party. how do you build your own social standing in a scene when your partner has 7 years on you
