so we were at a club in birmingham about 4 months in and i locked eyes across the room with a guy i went to uni with 15 years ago. mutual recognition, both of us froze, his wife had no idea who i was. i made a tiny nod, he made a tiny nod back, and we both very politely stayed on opposite sides of the venue for the rest of the night. afterwards we agreed (over a coffee a few weeks later, vanilla setting) that we'd never mention it to anyone. has anyone else had the recognise-a-civilian moment and how did you handle it...
