uni lecturer + LS in the same city, the student boundary thing is intense lecturer at a russell group, late 30s, dh and i have been LS about 3yrs. our uni has about 30k students and the city is big-ish but ngl ive had The Moment twice now, once at a club where i clocked a former PhD student (she didnt see me, we left immediately) and once on an LS app where a profile photo was unmistakeably one of my final yr undergrads (we never connected obvs). both times i felt sick for days. the uni has clear policies about staff-student relationships obvs but the LS world brushes up against this in ways the policy never imagined. like im not actively pursuing students, im trying to live my own life, but the overlap is real and the consequences if anyone twisted it would be horrific. how do other academics handle this? do u just accept ur city is off limits...
