valentines day in the lifestyle... cliche tacky or actually sweet

so our regular couple invited us to a valentines "swap dinner" at theirs and im torn... part of me thinks its naff like roses and hearts and gimme a break we're grown ups. but my partner reckons its actually quite sweet, like everyone celebrating love in their own messy way. last yr we did a hotel just us two and skipped the LS stuff entirely. the host in our scene is doing a "red and black" night and i cant tell if it'll be lovely or like a bad m&s ad... what do you all do for v day? do u play or do u protect the couple time?
