we rotate 4 sitters from a babysitter app so no single one sees the pattern — is this overkill
M39 wife F37, two kids 5 and 8, weve been LS for about a year. early on we hired a regular sitter and after 2 months i started getting weird about her noticing the pattern of saturday nights, late returns, dressed up, all that. so we did something maybe a bit extreme — we got onto one of those babysitter platforms and we now rotate between 4 different sitters, basically each one sees us about once every 4 weeks. pros — no one sitter has enough data points to form a theory. each one prob just thinks "this couple uses me occasionally for a saturday date night". from any single sitters POV thats true and unremarkable. cons — its EXHAUSTING. we have to brief 4 different ppl on bedtime routine, allergies, where the snacks are, our wifi password, our emergency contacts. the kids have to bond w 4 different ppl. when one is sick we have to scramble, when one has a clash we have to scramble, every time we hire someone new we have to do a meet and greet. its a part time job just managing the sitter roster. wife thinks were being ridiculous and that one good sitter w an unspoken understanding is way less stressful than 4 sitters maintaining plausible deniability. shes prob right tbh. anyone else tried the rotation thing? did you stick w it or go back to one regular?? part of me feels like the rotation is actually MORE suspicious in some abstract way bc "couples who hire a different sitter every week" is itself a weird pattern that a curious neighbour might notice. idk just curious how other ppl have settled this.
